Helpful Reminders
First Grade Snack
I recommend that you pack something that is quick to eat and something that your child can open without assistance. Also, please pack a finger food snack that does not require a spoon or fork. You can pack your child’s snack in his/her lunch everyday or in a separate bag. Snack List Suggestions:
Daily Communication Folder
Each child will be given a communication folder to keep in his/her backpack. Homework from school will go home in the folder and will need to be returned to school the next day. Please look through it each night. You are welcome to put any notes or information that has to go to the school office in the folder. They will check it each morning.
Birthday Celebration
In honor of your child’s birthday or half birthday, he/she may choose to bring non-food birthday item to share with their classmates. Please send me an email or a note to let me know when you are planning on celebrating your child’s birthday.
Book Orders
About once a month a book order form will come home from Scholastic. This is a great way to purchase books inexpensively, while helping our class earn points towards books for our room! You can even order on-line with the username and password that I’ll provide.
Homework
Your child will have about 20-30 minutes of homework Monday through Thursday. If it’s a crazy busy night for your family, you can write a note in his/her communication folder and he/she can an additional day to complete the assignment.
Tardies
Students should be at school by 8:15. Arriving after this time causes students to lose instructional time.
